    TRAGEDY: Fire destroys Makinde Aide’s wholesale distribution centre

    A devastating fire has razed the wholesale distribution centre of Tallest Innocent, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state on Community Relations (Igbo Community).

    The centre, located at Alafara community, via NIHORT Iletuntun Shonsho road Ibadan, went up in flames at around 7:00 pm, causing widespread destruction.

    Goods worth millions of naira were destroyed in the blaze, including plastic drinks and beverage drinks stocked for the Yuletide season.

    Despite the efforts of the Oyo State fire services, who arrived promptly at the scene, the fire caused extensive damage.

    In an emotional recounting of the incident, Tallest Innocent expressed his gratitude to the fire service department for their swift intervention.

    “I received a distress call from neighbours and passers-by that my shop was on fire. I quickly called the fire service department, and they arrived at the scene, assisting immensely to put out the flame and prevent further damage.”

    The governor’s aide was visibly shaken by the loss, stating that everything in the distribution centre was damaged beyond repair. “This is a distribution point for beverage drinks, and this is the season of Christmas.

    I had recently stocked the shop with goods worth millions of naira, and nothing was picked out of it. Not even a pin, everything is damaged completely.”

    Eyewitnesses who helped contain the spread of the fire before the arrival of the fire service men described the scene as chaotic.

    “We tried to prevent the fire from escalating by pulling out nearby shops and adjoining houses, but we couldn’t stop the damage due to the enormity of the fire.”
