Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has expressed satisfaction with the improvements in passenger experience at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
Keyamo attributed the success to the hard work of the Federal Airports Authority (FAAN) management, as well as improved performance from immigration, customs officers, and other security agencies.
While unveiling the renovated E Wing Departure Terminal at MMIA, Keyamo noted that passengers now experience less harassment and more professionalism from airport staff.
He also introduced four new CNG-powered buses to enhance the airport’s services.

The minister emphasized that the renovated terminal is part of FAAN’s plan to remodel Nigeria’s airports in partnership with private entities, making them more user-friendly.
He thanked the concessionaires, including the United Bank for Africa (UBA), for their contributions to the project.
Oliver Alawuba, Group Managing Director of UBA, praised the collaboration between the public and private sectors, highlighting its potential to transform Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure.
He also commended Keyamo for improving Nigeria’s compliance with the Cape Town Convention, making aircraft leasing and financing more accessible to Nigerian airlines.
Keyamo’s achievements in the aviation sector include expanding bilateral air service agreements with several countries, advancing the construction of a second runway at Abuja Airport, and relocating FAAN’s headquarters from Abuja to Lagos, saving over N500 million in travel expenses.
