In a dramatic turn of events, a Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has nullified the congresses of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

This decision comes after the court had earlier issued an order stopping the conduct of the congresses, which the APC had ignored.

The nullification of the congresses, which produced Chief Tony Okocha, was a result of a contempt of court proceeding filed by the faction of the embattled Chairman of the party, Chief Emeka Beke.

“We are happy with the court’s decision, as it has vindicated our position that the congresses were conducted in contempt of a valid court order,” said counsel to the claimants.

The court’s decision was made by Justice Godswill Obomanu, who listened to the presentations and submissions of the counsels before nullifying the congresses.

“Having listened to the arguments and submissions of the counsels, I hereby nullify the congresses of the APC in Rivers State, as they were conducted in contempt of a valid court order,” Justice Obomanu ruled.

This development is a significant blow to the APC in Rivers State, and it remains to be seen how the party will respond to the court’s decision.
