The matriculation ceremony, which took place on the university’s campus, featured a keynote address by the President/Vice Chancellor, Professor Ademola Tayo.

He emphasized that the ultimate goal of learning in a university is to lay the foundation for becoming a true intellectual, capable of perceiving objects and phenomena from diverse perspectives.

The Vice Chancellor reiterated the university’s commitment to providing a caring and supportive environment, devoted to helping students thrive. “You are the catalyst for our presence here, and the reason for the establishment of Babcock University,” he said.

“Our mission is to ensure a promising future for you through a unique and comprehensive training program designed to acknowledge your requirement for mental, physical, and spiritual enlightenment.”

Professor Tayo advised the students to take advantage of the university’s interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial training approach, as well as its diversified and inclusive population, to establish their life goals and cultivate the necessary skills to achieve them.

“You are the architect of your life, and your objectives must stem from your own aspirations,” he charged.
While emphasizing the importance of freedom and independence in university life, Professor Tayo warned the students against hooliganism, bullying, examination misconduct, sexual harassment, and drug-related offenses.

“Any student convicted of these offenses will be expelled instantly,” he cautioned.
Mr. Hakeem Abdulhammed, the representative of the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), also addressed the students, stressing the importance of discipline in achieving academic success.

He advised the students to remain focused and make their parents proud of their investments in them. Mr. Abdulhammed praised Babcock University for ensuring that all students were admitted through the Central Admission Processing System of JAMB.
