In a significant endorsement, former Group Managing Directors of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have commended the current management, led by Mele Kyari, for the successful rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt refinery.

The former NNPC chiefs, who inspected the facility, described the restreaming of the refinery as a remarkable achievement. Dr. Jackson Gaius-Obaseki, who led the group, praised the outcome of the rehabilitation effort, transforming a 1965 facility into a state-of-the-art plant by 2024.

Obaseki clarified that the rehabilitation was not a routine maintenance exercise but a comprehensive overhaul that modernized the plant.

He emphasized that critics often fail to grasp the magnitude of work involved, mistaking it for a routine turnaround maintenance.

The former GMDs urged Kyari to remain focused on delivering value to Nigerians, hailing the achievement as a testament to courage and dedication.

Other former GMDs present at the meeting included Chamberlain Oyibo, Funsho Kupolokun, and Andrew Yakubu.
