Tight Security at National Assembly as President Tinubu Presents 2025 Budget

ABUJA — A heavy security presence is currently observed at the National Assembly complex as President Ahmed Tinubu is set to present the 2025 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly today.

By 8:00 am, Senators and members of the House of Representatives were seen arriving at the Green Chamber, where the joint session will take place.

On Monday, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved an estimated expenditure of N47.96 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year.

In preparation for the budget presentation, security has been significantly reinforced with additional personnel from various agencies. The National Assembly management has also shut down all business operations and ancillary services, including banks and food vendors, for the day.

Visitors and non-essential staff members have been instructed to stay home until after the budget presentation. Only essential staff members with accreditation and a limited number of reporters are allowed to report to work.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio is expected to preside over the joint session alongside the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen.
