    Governor Mutfwang Praises President Tinubu for Renaming University After Gowon, Congratulates First Female Navy Pilot

    Jos — Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for renaming the University of Abuja after former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.

    The Governor also celebrated Lieutenant Changfe Maigari’s historic achievement as the first female pilot in the Nigerian Navy since its inception in 1964.

    Governor Mutfwang expressed his joy over both developments, noting that the honors extend beyond the individuals to the entire Plateau State, the birthplace of both General Gowon and Lieutenant Maigari.

    In a statement issued on Monday by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Governor Mutfwang conveyed his gratitude to President Tinubu for the renaming of the University of Abuja to Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja.

    He highlighted that this gesture recognizes General Gowon’s significant contributions to the nation’s development.

    “The renaming is a profound honor, not only to General Gowon but also to the people of Plateau State, his birthplace. General Yakubu Gowon is a cherished father figure and a beacon of peace to millions of Nigerians.

    His life and legacy continue to inspire change and serve as a guiding light for our nation,” Mutfwang stated.

    Governor Mutfwang further thanked President Tinubu for this thoughtful gesture, which he said underscores the administration’s commitment to acknowledging the contributions of Nigeria’s past leaders.

    He extended warm congratulations to General Gowon on behalf of the government and people of Plateau State, praying for continued blessings, good health, and strength for the elder statesman.

    Regarding Lieutenant Maigari, Governor Mutfwang commended her courage, resilience, and dedication, which have propelled her to this groundbreaking accomplishment. He described her achievement as a significant milestone, not just for the Nigerian Navy but also for Plateau State and the nation as a whole.

    He emphasized that her success underscores the growing role of women in strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and fostering inclusivity in national development.
