Ogun Muslim Council lauds NAHCON’s transparency on refund, addresses other key national issues

Ogun — The Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC) has commended the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for its transparency and accountability, particularly in returning funds to pilgrims for services not rendered.

The commendation was contained in a communique issued at the end of its general meeting held on December 8, 2024, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, and signed by Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde, Secretary-General of the Council.

OMC praised NAHCON’s commitment to transparency and integrity, urging the commission to continue its Allah-conscious discharge of responsibilities.

Tax Reform Bill, The council also cautioned stakeholders to exercise restraint during the passage and implementation of the proposed Tax Reform Bill.

While acknowledging President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to reform and harmonize multiple taxes, the OMC emphasized the need to protect all interests.

Alleged Mosque Destruction
The OMC appreciated the peaceful resolution and reconstruction efforts regarding the alleged destruction of a mosque in Idiroko. The council commended the Area Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for personally laying the foundation of the mosque at a new site.
Other Resolutions
The meeting addressed various issues, including:
The OMC encouraged Muslims to actively participate in governance and politics.

The council inaugurated five statutory committees to drive its programs and projects.
The OMC acknowledged NSCIA’s efforts in implementing Zakat and empowering Muslims.
MUSWEN’s scholarship programs and free medical outreach initiatives were commended.

The council supported education and capital expenditure allocations in the Ogun State budget.
The OMC expressed concern over humanitarian crises in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon.
