Her efforts have led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu, and the original builders of the Ajaokuta Steel plant, Messrs Tyazhpromexport (TPE), for the rehabilitation, completion, and operation of the plant and the National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO).
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan credited President Tinubu’s commitment to connecting the steel company with its original builders. She expressed optimism that the revitalization would commence in the first quarter of 2025, enabling Nigeria to manufacture core components and machines for the oil and gas sector.
The NENYLC had previously written to President Tinubu about the steel company’s deplorable condition and followed up with letters to the EFCC and ICPC regarding corruption concerns.
They applauded the Federal Government’s action, citing Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s tireless efforts as exemplary representation.
