In a series of daring operations, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested several individuals and seized large consignments of illicit drugs across Nigeria.

The crackdown is part of the agency’s ongoing War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative.
Egwu Phillip Inya, a 42-year-old building engineer, was arrested in Enugu while attempting to collect three units of pressure machines containing 7.40 kilograms of Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, imported from South Africa.

The consignments had arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on November 29, 2024.
In another operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted 511,000 pills of tramadol in Adamawa state, hidden in a Siena vehicle.

Two suspects, Olanrewaju Alale and Babatunde Kayode Ijadahun, were arrested in Ekiti state with 108 jumbo bags of cannabis weighing 1,323 kilograms.

Another suspect, Adekunle Yusuf, was caught with 704 kilograms of cannabis concealed in white sacks in Oyo state.

A 65-year-old grandmother, Ramata Bola Adeyemo, was arrested in Lagos with 20.6 liters of codeine-based syrup. Alhaji Lawan Manga was also arrested in Lagos with 4.7 kilograms of cannabis and 1.3 kilograms of tramadol.

The NDLEA has continued its WADA sensitization lectures across the country, targeting schools, worship centers, workplaces, and communities.

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa commended the officers and men of the agency for their operational successes and balanced approach to drug supply reduction and demand reduction efforts.
