Alhaji Faruku Sarkin Fada, a renowned philanthropist and PDP stalwart, has sponsored the annual mass circumcision of children in Sokoto North and Sokoto South local government areas, reviving a cherished tradition in Hausa-speaking communities ¹.

This selfless act has brought relief to numerous families struggling to make ends meet amidst the current economic hardship.
In a traditional Hausa setting, circumcision is typically performed on boys under ten years old during the harmattan period.

Alhaji Faruku’s initiative has been praised by Hon. Bello Aliyu Goronyo, the state PDP chairman, who encouraged other philanthropists to emulate his kindness.
For many parents, this free service has been a godsend.

One grateful mother expressed her appreciation, saying, “If I had to take my child to the hospital for circumcision, I would spend 8,000 naira. Now, I’m getting it for free, which is a huge relief during these challenging times”.

The mass circumcision program will cover all communities within Sokoto North and Sokoto South, regardless of tribal or political affiliations.

Alhaji Faruku emphasized his commitment to giving back to society, especially during difficult economic times.
This act of kindness has not only eased the financial burden on parents but also promoted cultural heritage.

Circumcision, known as “shayi” or “kaciya” in Hausa, holds significant social and religious value in these communities.

Alhaji Faruku’s philanthropy serves as a shining example, inspiring others to follow in his footsteps and make a positive impact on their communities.
