    Ododo inaugurates Kogi International Carnival 2024

    Gov. Ahmed Ododo on Monday in Lokoja, inaugurated the Kogi International Carnival with a pledge to invest more in the culture and tourism sector in the state.

    This, he said, was imperative giving the vital role culture and tourism play in boosting the state’s economy.

    Represented by his Deputy, Mr Joel Oyibo, the governor appreciated the organisers, visitors and other stakeholder for making the much anticipated carnival a reality.

    In her remarks, Mrs Acharu Okpanachi, Kogi Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, said that the carnival was a week-long event that would showcase the state’s unique cultural heritage globally and attract investors.

    Also speaking, Prince Philip Orebiyi, leader of the Kogi International Carnival 2024 project team, described the carnival as more than just a celebration.

    He emphasised its role in promoting cultural exchange, community bonding, and showcasing Kogi’s unique offerings to the world.

    Orebiyi said the carnival themed: “Come, Experience, Explore and Invest in the Confluence State,” was aimed at fostering unity, promoting tourism, creating job opportunities, and attracting local and international investments.

    He explained that the events would hold simultaneously in four locations – Lokoja, Kabba, Okene, and Anyigba, and promised that it would to be an unforgettable experience
    The team leader said the carnival would feature spectacular performances by renowned local and international artists, vibrant cultural exhibitions, and traditional dance displays.

    “The carnival will also feature a food festival, fashion shows, and informative workshops and masterclasses on art, music, and entrepreneurship,” Orebiyi said.

    The Special Adviser to the President on Arts and Culture, Ayo Adeagho, and the Special Adviser to the President on Digital and Creative Economy, Fegho John- Umunubo, applauded Ododo for bringing the Kogi International Carnival to life. NAN
