A coalition of financial institutions, the Humanity Development and Empowerment Organisation (HDEO), also known as the Lenders Association, has called on the federal government to immediately remit N12 billion in loan deductions from civil servants’ payslips and salaries that have not been credited to lenders.

The association’s outgoing National President, Dr. Osita Nebolisa, emphasized the urgency of the matter during a leadership handover ceremony in Abuja.

He tasked the newly elected executives to prioritize resolving the issue with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation and the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) [2).

Dr. Nebolisa noted that despite deductions from workers’ payslips and salaries, the loans remain unremitted. He urged all members to support the new executives in addressing this critical issue.

The Lenders Association has made significant strides in promoting equitable lending practices and financial inclusion for Nigeria’s workforce. During Dr. Nebolisa’s tenure, over N6.2 billion in loans were provided to more than 2,400 federal civil servants. A Service Level Agreement (SLA) was also signed with the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) in 2023
