    FG supports Rivers flood victims with relief aid, empowerment tool

    ABUJAThe Federal Government, through the Ministry of Regional Development, has delivered vital relief materials and empowerment tools to communities in Rivers State affected by recent floods.

    This intervention aims to provide immediate relief and long-term support to flood victims across the state.

    A statement issued to journalists on Saturday by the Ministry highlighted that the distribution is part of a broader initiative to assist flood-affected regions in the Niger Delta.

    The Ministry provided these aid items to communities in nine states of the region, as part of its annual intervention programs.

    The Ministry was represented at the event by Dr. Shuaib Belgore, the Permanent Secretary, who led the distribution of relief materials in Rivers State.

    The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, who stood in for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, expressed gratitude on behalf of the state government.

    She commended the federal government for its swift response and assured that the flood victims would benefit greatly from the assistance.

    The relief items, including bags of rice, vegetable oil, motorcycles, grinding machines, and mosquito nets, were distributed to the affected communities.

    A committee comprising representatives from both the Ministry and the Rivers State government was established to ensure a fair and transparent distribution process.

    Dr. Belgore thanked the Rivers State government for its cooperation in executing the program and stressed the importance of equitable distribution of the relief materials and empowerment tools.

    He also urged the affected communities to make the most of the empowerment tools to help rebuild their livelihoods.
