Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has vowed to retrieve the misappropriated N30,000 Sallah gifts meant for local government and Local Government Education Authority staff.

The governor made this promise while receiving the report of a committee set up to investigate the alleged non-payment of the Sallah largesse.

Governor Aliyu assured that his administration would study the committee’s recommendations and implement them. He also promised to retrieve the misappropriated funds and pay them back to their rightful beneficiaries.

The governor’s promise comes after a public outcry over the non-compliance with his directives to pay the N30,000 Sallah largesse to local government and LGEA staff. Governor Aliyu restated his commitment to his campaign slogan, “KO KUDI KO AIKI,” which translates to “no one will tamper with public funds and get away with it.”
The Chairman of the committee, Sambo Yahaya Nawawi, who is also the state Auditor General, commended Governor Aliyu for establishing the committee to investigate the scam.
Governor Aliyu thanked the people of Sokoto State for their continued support and prayers to his administration. He assured them of more dividends of democracy in the years to come.
