The traditional ruler of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Shotobi, has urged traditional rulers across the Southwest to collaborate with the government to improve local intelligence gathering, aiding the work of security agencies.

Shotobi made the call when the Southwest traditional rulers, Yoruba Oba Forum, paid a courtesy visit to the Ayangburen palace in Ikorodu, Lagos on Thursday.

According to Shotobi, the security architecture in Ikorodu has improved significantly due to the establishment of local security outfits like the Peace Initiative, which complements the operations of police and other security agencies.

He emphasised that insecurity was becoming a thing of the past, as the community was working together with the government.
According to Shotobi, no developing nation is immune to pockets of insecurity, but collaboration with the government is key to addressing these issues.

He encouraged traditional rulers to promote unity and collaboration among themselves, fostering good relationships with the government to share intelligence and information to curb insecurity.
Oba Samuel Adeoye, Chairman of Yoruba Oba Forum, emphasised the importance of collaboration among traditional rulers and the government.
He highlighted the success of the Amotekun Corps in curtailing crime rates in the Southwest region.
The visit also aimed to promote unity, protect and preserve traditions and culture, and address the extinction of traditional rulers’ traditions and culture in the Southwest.
Oba Asumo Aderibigbe commended Shotobi for his efforts in preserving tradition and culture, citing the Oro festival as an example.
