OGUN State Governor Dapo Abiodun announced on Friday that his administration will award contracts for the construction of the Alagbole-Akute and Akute-Oke-Aro-Ijoko roads in Ifo Local Government Area within the next two weeks.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Ojodu Abiodun-Denro-Ishasi-Akute Road, Governor Abiodun stated that construction would begin from Akute to Oke Aro. He emphasized, “In the next few weeks, I will award the Alagbole-Akute road and the Akute-Ijoko-Oke-Aro road, which stretches 32 kilometers to Sango. We have completed about 15 kilometers so far and are now set to start from Akute toward Oke-Aro.”
Abiodun highlighted the importance of a good road network for development and mentioned that ongoing constructions of the Toyin-Giwa, Akute-Ajuwon, and Akute-Alagbole roads would be completed and commissioned in three months.
“I was here months ago and promised to address the roads brought to my attention. I’m pleased to confirm that work has begun on those roads and they will be completed in the next two to three months,” he said, praising the quality of work done.
The governor noted that the Ojodu-Abiodun-Denro-Ishasi-Akute Road was previously in poor condition but has now been restored to ease local transportation and enhance access to Lagos State. “This area offers affordability and peace for those who want to live here,” he added.
He urged residents to properly maintain the road and avoid blocking drainage or using it for mechanic work. Speed bumps have been installed to discourage reckless driving.
Governor Abiodun encouraged investors to choose Ogun State, assuring them that his government would continue to improve infrastructure to foster a conducive business environment.

Engr. Ade Akinsanya, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, stated that the 4.65-kilometer road, which includes a 30-meter bridge, aims to enhance connectivity and economic growth in the area.
Hon. Idris Kusimo, Chairman of Ifo Local Government Area, noted that the road would stimulate economic activity. Hon. Adijat Adeleye, Commissioner for Women Affairs, recalled that the road had been poorly constructed 15 years ago and had not been repaired since.
Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, Olu of Ilaro and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, praised the governor for revitalizing border towns and fostering a sense of belonging among residents. Alhaji Bashir, Zonal Chairman of the Community Development Association, expressed relief that the reconstruction would alleviate flooding issues, significantly improving travel times in the area.
