In a significant development for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has sealed a deal with Dangote Petroleum Refinery to lift petroleum products directly.
This agreement is expected to reduce costs and increase efficiency in the distribution of petroleum products across the country.
Abubakar Garima, National President of IPMAN, announced the partnership at a press briefing in Abuja, stating that Dangote Refinery will supply IPMAN with PMS, AGO, and DPK for distribution to its depots and retail outlets. This move is anticipated to create more job opportunities and support President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
In a related development, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) recently visited the $20 billion Dangote Petroleum Refinery to gain insight into its operations and impact on Nigeria’s and Africa’s economy.
With a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the refinery is poised to make a significant contribution to the region’s energy needs.
The partnership between IPMAN and Dangote Refinery is seen as a strategic step towards reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products and promoting local refining capacity. It is also expected to lead to lower petrol prices, as IPMAN members will now have direct access to products from the refinery, eliminating multiple layers of distribution that inflate fuel prices.
This collaboration is a welcome development for Nigeria’s economy, which has long been plagued by fuel scarcity and high prices. With Dangote Refinery’s capacity and IPMAN’s extensive distribution network, Nigerians can look forward to more affordable and reliable access to petroleum products
