Owerri – Two persons were said to have been killed while others got injured in bomb explosion at Orlu International Market in Imo state, on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses confirmed this tragedy to newsmen in Owerri.
According one of them, a shop owner at the market, who did not mention his name for security reasons, said: “The explosion brought to an end the market activities of the day.
“Some of us while running got injured. I lost my money and one of the keys to my shop as i was running with my 5-year-old son.”
Another eyewitness a lady that has provision shop said: “Tomorrow, I am not coming to the market. We need to know who are these people that came to bomb us. The security agencies should come now and protect Orlu International market. We are now the target. Why is this kind of thing happening to us.”

Also confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Henry Okoye, said: “Two persons who incidentally were the hoodlums were killed in the process of setting up an IED and in the process, it exploded.
“We have deployed operatives to the area. No cause for alarm. We ask all Imolites to report suspicious activities in their areas and be vigilant.”
He added: “The Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has deployed Anti-Bomb operatives to the scene.”
