Abuja – In a strategic move to enhance the efficiency of his administration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced an extensive restructuring of federal ministries and portfolios.
The decision, part of Tinubu’s commitment to delivering on his promises to Nigerians, includes significant changes aimed at streamlining operations and improving service delivery.
During a press briefing at the Presidential Villa, President Tinubu outlined eight key actions that will be implemented immediately. Among these actions is the renaming of the Ministry of Niger Delta Development, which will now be known as the Ministry of Regional Development. This new ministry will oversee the activities of all regional development commissions, specifically the Niger Delta Development Commission, the South East Development Commission, the North East Development Commission, and the North West Development Commission.
Additionally, the Ministry of Sports Development will be dissolved, with its responsibilities transferred to the National Sports Commission, a move aimed at fostering a vibrant sports economy in the country. In a bid to consolidate efforts in the cultural sector, the Federal Ministries of Tourism and Arts and Culture will merge to form the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy.
As part of the restructuring, ten ministers will be reassigned to new portfolios, while five others will be discharged from their roles. The President also announced the nomination of seven new ministers, whose appointments require Senate confirmation.
The newly appointed ministers and their portfolios are as follows:
- Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda – Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
- Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi – Minister of Labour and Employment
- Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu – Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

- Idi Mukhtar Maiha – Minister of Livestock Development
- Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata – Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development
- Suwaiba Said Ahmad, PhD – Minister of State for Education.
The sacked ministers are the Minister of Women Affairs, Uju-Ken Ohanenye; Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John; Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman; Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo; and Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim.
