    Nigerian teenager, Sarah Solarin, earns First-Class degree in Computer Science at 19

    A 19-year-old Nigerian lady, Sarah Seun Solarin, has made headlines after graduating with a first-class degree in Computer Science from Babcock University, achieving a perfect 5.0 CGPA. Solarin shared her remarkable achievement on social media, revealing that she was recognized as the overall best graduating student from the School of Computer and Engineering Sciences and also held the highest CGPA in the Department of Computer Science.
    Solarin’s outstanding performance was highlighted by her perfect 5.0 GPA in her final year, where she successfully defended her project titled “Brain Tumor Identification and Classification Using YOLOv5 in Magnetic Resonance Imaging,” earning a top grade of 90. Her academic excellence earned her numerous prestigious awards, including the Google Generation Scholarship, Dean’s Prize for the highest CGPA in the School of Computing, and the Engineer (Dr.) Akin Alade Family Award for Best Graduating Student.
    These awards come with cash prizes, career coaching, and assistance with scholarship applications. Solarin expressed gratitude to God, her family, friends, mentors, and academic supervisors for their roles in her success. Her achievement has inspired many online, and she is poised to reach greater heights in the computer science field.

    A paid 3-month internship with the Kibo School Programme in the U.S.

    She wrote, “On the 28th of July this year, I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Computer Science at 19. I was also awarded as the student with the Highest CGPA in the Department of Computer Science, as well as being on the Dean’s List as the Overall Best Graduating student from the School of Computing and Engineering Sciences (Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Technology, Software Engineering and Information Technology), Babcock University.”

    “I am even happier to announce that I not only wrapped up my Bachelor’s Degree with a 5.0 GPA in my final semester, but also successfully defended and published my final year project on “Brain Tumor Identification and Classification Using YOLOv5 in Radiomics Analysis of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scans” with an A grade of 90.”
