Police Affairs Ministry honours 13 staff for outstanding performance

Ministry of Police Affairs, has acknowledged the exceptional performance by dedicated men and women who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in the handling and execution of assigned tasks within the ministry this year.

The Permanent Secretary, Mr. James Sule honoured the awardees during the historic 2024 Civil Service Reward and Recognition event for the 13 officers organized by the ministry to celebrate its staff at the Education’s Conference Hall, Federal Secretariat, Phase 3, Abuja.

Sule, according to a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations in the ministry, Bolaji Kazeem, said their emergence as winners is a testament to the fact that they have done well in fulfilling their roles, developing new initiatives, creativity, and exhibiting unwavering dedication in the service to the Ministry and the nation at large.

“Today’s celebration is of significant importance to us as a Ministry as it reflects our commitment to nurturing a culture of excellence, diligence, and integrity. It is therefore, in tandem with the provisions of the Public Service Rule (PSR) 060102 which states that “the Reward and Recognition System (R & RS) is a motivational tool that is deployed to improve work ethic and performance in the Service,” he said.

He pointed out that with the Performance Management System, PMS in all ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs, there shall be a clear link between performance management outcomes/results and rewards. Employee performance shall largely be used in determining rewards and recognition.

According to him, “your selection for today’s awards is not by any means a coincidence, but a result of a painstaking process that involved careful and impartial assessment of process bringing to fore, your maximum level of performance, initiatives, zeal, dedication to duties and obligation in the achievement of the ministerial deliverables.”

“Today’s recognition is proof of the fact that hard work, integrity, and commitment do not go unnoticed,” he added.

The Permanent Secretary, however, assured the rest of the staff that their contributions are equally valued as every one of them plays a critical role in our success(es), and urged them to continue to strive for higher standards to the improvement of the ministry and the services to the nation.
