According to the report, “This number accounts for less than 1 percent of the total videos uploaded in Nigeria during this period, reflecting TikTok’s proactive content moderation and commitment to ensuring a safe digital space for its Nigerian user base.”
Key statistics from the report show that, “99.1 percent of these videos were taken down proactively, before any user reports, and 90.7 percent of the violative content was removed within 24 hours.”
It noted: “Globally, TikTok has continued to invest in advanced technologies to enhance content understanding and risk assessment.
“In June 2024 alone, the platform removed over 178 million videos, of which 144 million were taken down automatically. “These advancements have significantly reduced the amount of content requiring human moderation, limiting exposure to harmful material for both users and moderators.
“TikTok’s global proactive detection rate now stands at 98.2 percent, highlighting the platform’s enhanced efficiency in addressing harmful content before it is seen by users.”
