PDP Governors’ Forum brokers peace, lifts suspensions amid party crisis

Published on

In a significant move to address the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the PDP Governors’ Forum has intervened, urging all parties to revert to the status quo.

Led by Chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkarim Mohammed, the Forum held an emergency virtual meeting on October 14, 2024, followed by another meeting with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on October 15.
After consulting with the Board of Trustees, NWC, and other party organs, the Forum resolved to take several key steps to address the crisis.
“We urge all parties to be mindful of their vow to serve and grow the party from strength to strength, consolidating on the dreams of our founding fathers,” Senator Mohammed stated.
The resolutions include:
The party’s organs will carefully address issues, particularly those with pending legal disputes.
The NWC will revert to the status quo, remaining united in the interest of the party and nation.
All suspensions issued on officials within the NWC have been lifted forthwith.
The Forum emphasized that there are no factions within the party and minor issues should not be blown out of proportion.
The meeting was attended by the following governors:
Senator Bala Abdulkarim Mohammed, CON, Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum
Sir Siminalyi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State and Vice Chairman
Sen. Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State
Mr. Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State
Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, Governor of Oyo State
Senator Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State
Dr. Dauda Lawal, Governor of Zamfara State
Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State
Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, Governor of Adamawa State
Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, Governor of Plateau State
Dr. Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State
Senator Mohammed reassured that the party is committed to resolving its internal conflicts, stating, “We are determined to move forward, united and strong, in the interest of our party and the nation.”
This development aims to bring stability and unity to the PDP, ahead of future elections.
