An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, on Monday, remanded a man, Augustine Ekerette, in Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a 17-year-old girl.

Justice Abiola Soladoye remanded Ekerette after his arraignment on one-count charge of defilement brought against him by Lagos Government.

Soladoye, thereafter, adjourned the case till Nov. 11 for commencement of trial. The defendant had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The State Counsel, Ms Abimbola Abolade, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between 2020 and 2023 at Plot 124, Ogunla GRA in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Abolade said that the defendant consistently defiled the girl by having unlawful sexual intercourse with her.

According to her, the offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
