    Police crack Imo state kidnap gang, arrest five suspects, rescue victim

    In a significant breakthrough, the Nigeria Police Force has dismantled a kidnapping ring in Imo State, arresting five suspects and rescuing a victim.

    The suspects, identified as Umaru Usman, Tukur Yau, Musbau Sabo, Abdul Ibrahim, and Jubrin Idris, were apprehended on August 21, 2024, in Avu, Imo State.

    According to a statement by the Force headquarters, the suspects were linked to kidnappings in Obinze, Avu, and Ihiagwa. Additionally, Nwauba Alex, a 25-year-old male from Ezza LGA, Ebonyi State, was arrested for attempted robbery, and a locally made pistol, ammunition, and torchlights were recovered.

    The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD., NPM, has reaffirmed the police’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other crimes, with proactive and reactive measures in place to enhance security.

    This achievement demonstrates the police’s relentless efforts to ensure citizen safety and serves as a warning to criminal elements that the police will not tolerate such acts.
