In a shocking turn of events, armed soldiers stormed the Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State early Monday morning, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in their wake.
This latest attack comes just weeks after community leaders were arrested by the military.
According to eyewitnesses, the soldiers arrived in the community via Okoloba, using drones to surveil the area on Sunday before launching their assault.
A video recording sent to our correspondent shows a community youth pleading for government intervention as drones hover above.
A resident, who spoke to our correspondent from a hiding place in the bush, described the scene: “Soldiers and Okoloba youths are shooting at anything in sight. They’ve parked their boats at Okoloba and are attacking us on foot. Our small tents are being destroyed. I’m desperately searching for my child, but everyone is scattered. Why are we being treated like this?”

The motive behind the latest invasion is still unclear, but the community is reeling from the sudden attack. The resident lamented, “Our leaders were arrested weeks ago, and now they’ve come to sack our community. Why are soldiers teaming up with our enemies to attack us?”
