The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over $180,300 and 53 stolen vehicles to the Canadian government, recovered from Nigerian fraudsters who scammed Canadian victims.

The assets, valued at N180 million, were presented to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

The operation, spanning several years, resulted in the recovery of $164,000 for Canadian victim Elena Bogomas and $16,300 for Sandra Butler. The 53 vehicles, stolen in Canada, were smuggled into Nigeria and recovered by the EFCC.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede reiterated Nigeria’s zero-tolerance stance on financial crimes and corruption, emphasizing President Bola Ahmed’s mandate to combat these crimes. Olukoyede praised the collaboration with the RCMP, citing the recoveries as a testament to the partnership’s success.
