The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has insisted that no member is bigger than the party.

It however said it would not dictate to members of the Chief Tom Ikimi-led Disciplinary Committee on how to conduct its affairs.

National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, said this at an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja.

He was responding to a question on a trending video of an interview granted by the Deputy Publicity Secretary of the party, Ibrahim Abdullahi, to Channels Television.

Abdullahi had said the Chief Tom Ikimi-led Disciplinary Committee summoned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over alleged anti-party activities.

Ologunagba explained that the Chief Tom Ikimi-led disciplinary committee was at liberty to investigate, invite or summon any party member upon receipt of a petition if it deems it fit.

He said, ” What I can tell you is that nobody is above this party. It is the People’s Democratic Party.

“What we have done is set up bodies (reconciliation and disciplinary committees) and given them the mandate to do the job. We will wait for their report.”

Wike had warned PDP Governors to steer clear of the politics of Rivers State or risk turbulence in their various state chapters.

The FCT Minister spoke during the party’s state congress at the party’s secretariat, in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the PDP has expressed confidence that its candidate in the Edo State Governorship election, Asue Ighodalo, will win the November polls with over 65 percent.

The parts Spokeman, Debo Ologunagba said this at a press briefing in Abuja.

He said, “The APC must accept the clear fact that as far as the September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo State is concerned, Monday Okpebholo has no chance as the preference of the people of Edo State is in Dr. Asue Ighodalo and the PDP.”

Adding, “Ighodalo will win with at least 60 percent of the votes.”
