The new District Governor for Lions International, District 404B3, Lion Dr. Ibrahim Jide Bello has said the club within the next Lion year, will pursue programmes that will engender hope and care for other human being, adding that it is the moral duty of the members to ensure no one in the community feel the pangs of hunger.

Dr Bello also vowed to tackle childhood cancer, noting that considerable efforts will be made in combating and relieving children suffering from cancer by providing medical help, supporting awareness programs.

He stated this during his public presentation as District Governor 404B3 Nigeria (2024- 2025) lion year held at Anchor Events center, Agidingbi, Lagos recently.

He said: “Let us begin this journey with key initiatives that make up those very pillars in our commitment to serving humanity. We shall embark on an ambitious project for a food court as part of our initiative geared towards alleviation of hunger. In a world where abundance often contrasts with scarcity, it is our moral duty to ensure no one in our communities goes hungry. This food court will not only provide a healthy meal but will also become an icon of hope and care reminding us of what connects us as human beings.

“Another global cause that touches the heart is that of childhood cancer. The fight of the young lives against this disease is a sober reminder of life’s fragility and the human spirit’s fortitude. We shall devote considerable efforts in combating and relieving children suffering from cancer by providing medical help, supporting awareness programs, and reaching out for emotional support in their hour of need. We will stand with them and show that they do not stand alone in their fight.

Thirdly, we are going to address one of the basic factors of well-being: vision, providing clear sight devoid of infractions such as cataract, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy are serious issues because our eyes play a crucial role in how we move through the world and enjoy our life. We will indefatigably distribute eyeglasses throughout our district so that everybody, regardless of their economic background, can have their challenges met. By doing so, a whole new world of opportunities becomes opened for education, equal employment opportunities, and eventually an improved quality of life.

In the process of trying to achieve all these lofty aspirations, We must all agree that it is the unity in our organization that can make it possible. As Helen Keller once put it, ”Alone we can be great together we can do much. ” This bit of wisdom will continue to ring true as we press on to the challenges and opportunities before us. Adopt an attitude of teamwork, sharing resources, knowledge, and passion. Having assumed this posture, our impact will surely multiply like apples of positive change extending far beyond our immediate surroundings,” Bello said.
