‘Why I returned to school to study law’, Emir Sanusi opens up

The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has opened up on why he returned to school to study law at the state owned university, Northwest University in pursuit of degree programme, LL.B in Common Law and Shariah.

The Monarch who spoke when he paid a traditional Sallah homage “Hawan Nassarawa” to the Governor at the Government House, said, his return to school was not to practice as a lawyer in the court but to encourage others to strive for educational pursuit.

According to him, “My return to school is not to practice in the court, but to encourage others.

“Those criticizing my return to school should understand that education comes before kingship. A king who acquires education attains greater dignity, but a king without education—his entire kingship is worthless,” Emir Sanusi said.

The Monarch commended the governor for allocating and 30 per cent of the budget to education while calling on his wards to go back to school to strive for educational pursuit.

“We thank the Governor for according top priority to education by allocating 30 per cent of the budget to the education sector.

“We felt the importance with the performance of our students in the NECO, JAMB examinations and tertiary institutions.

“Whoever have not completed tertiary institutions, should go back and do so. If your wife is interested in going to school, allow her to do so,” Emir Sanusi said.

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, said his administration remains committed to provision of critical infrastructure, social development, protection of lives and properties in the state.

The Governor who was represented by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibrin Falgore, commended the Emir for his steadfast support, saying it remains a pillar of strength for the administration.
