The Edo State Government, through the Edo State Diaspora Agency (EDSDA), has formally appointed Engr. Kingsley Uwagboe Ogieva as the Liaison Volunteer Officer for Spain, in a move aimed at strengthening engagement with Edo indigenes and friends of the state resident in Europe.
The appointment was conveyed in an official letter dated February 2, 2026, and signed by the Director-General of the Edo State Diaspora Agency, Dr. (Mrs.) Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor.
According to the Agency, the appointment recognises Engr. Ogieva’s long-standing dedication, leadership and commitment to the Edo State diaspora community over the years, particularly within Spain.
“It is with great honour that the Edo State Diaspora Agency nominates you as the liaison volunteer person for Spain,” the letter stated, describing the appointment as both a recognition of service and a strategic engagement to advance the Agency’s mandate.

Dr. Ogboro-Okor noted that Engr. Ogieva’s role as Liaison Officer aligns with the Agency’s three key mandates, which include: Making Edo State a leader in global diaspora engagement and welfare;
Promoting investments, innovations and partnerships that translate into grassroots development; Propagating a positive and inclusive narrative about Edo State, including its rich cultural heritage.
“We are confident that your experience, dedication and leadership will contribute immensely to the success of this role and further strengthen our connection with our diaspora,” the Director-General stated.
As Liaison Officer for Spain, Engr. Ogieva will serve as a key contact point between Edo State and its diaspora community in Spain, facilitating engagement, coordination and communication. He will report directly to the Director-General of the Edo State Diaspora Agency in line with the Agency’s mandate within his jurisdiction.
With this appointment, the Agency reinforces its commitment to deepening diaspora participation across Europe, beginning with Spain.
