Senator representing Lagos West District, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, has empowered no fewer than 1,000 beneficiaries drawn from across the local governments and LCDAs of Lagos-West Senatorial District.
Adebule made the presentation during the Lagos-West Senatorial District Stakeholders Engagement and Constituents Mega Empowerment Programme, held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Blue Roof Pavilion, LTV 8, Ikeja, Lagos.
The items distributed included small commercial buses (Korope), complete sewing machines, hair dryers and accessories, electric barbing clippers with generators, laptops, catering equipment, and make-up kits, while some categories of beneficiaries also received cash grants of ₦200,000 each to support their businesses.
The event attracted party leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community stakeholders, women, and youth groups from across the Lagos-West Senatorial District.
Speaking at the event, Senator Adebule said the empowerment initiative was part of her commitment to job creation, poverty alleviation, and economic inclusion, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She explained that although the programme was initially scheduled for December 2025, it was shifted to January 2026 due to circumstances beyond her control.
She noted that the beneficiaries had undergone intensive skills acquisition training in six areas, including ICT, hairdressing, catering and hospitality, barbing, tailoring, and cosmetology, to ensure they are well-equipped to run sustainable small businesses.
“This programme gives me joy because it puts smiles on the faces of our people and renews their hope in a better future. Today’s edition is bigger and better than previous ones, both in scope and impact,” she said.
