President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reshuffled key economic roles, transferring oversight of revenue generation, debt management, and customs from Minister of Finance Wale Edun to Minister of State for Finance Doris Uzoka-Anite.
This move expands Uzoka-Anite’s responsibilities to include domestic finances, revenue distribution, and domestic debt management. Her new portfolio also covers Home Finance, Technical Services, Cash Management, and Revenue Sharing among government tiers.
The changes aim to drive economic reforms and boost Nigeria’s financial sector under Tinubu’s administration. Uzoka-Anite, a medical doctor and financial analyst, has expressed commitment to advancing the president’s economic agenda.
About Uzoka-Anite
Doris Uzoka-Anite is a Nigerian politician, medical doctor, and financial analyst born on October 16, 1973, in Oguta, Imo State. She’s currently serving as the Minister of State for Finance, a position she assumed in November 2024, after previously serving as the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment from August 2023 to October 2024.
Uzoka-Anite earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Benin in 1999. She also holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter and has completed various prestigious programs, including the University of Oxford’s Fintech Program and the TRIUM Global Executive MBA.
Career
Before entering politics, Uzoka-Anite worked as a medical officer and later joined Zenith Bank in 2002, rising to become Group Treasurer in 2019, managing over $20 billion in assets. She was appointed Commissioner for Finance and Coordinating Economy in Imo State in 2021.
