Natasha donates state-of-the-art maternity centre to Kogi Central

As Part of activities marking her 46th Birthday, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has commissioned a fully equipped ultra-modern Maternity Centre in Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The fully equipped facility is designed to reduce maternal mortality in Kogi Central in particular and the state in general.

This was contained In a statement issued by her Media Office in Abuja, on Wednesday.

In her address at the commissioning ceremony, the federal lawmaker explained that unlike most of her other projects, the facility was funded almost 100 percent from donations.

Senator Natasha said, “Ninety-nine percent of the people who contributed financially to this maternity centre are not even from Kogi State. This project is a people-driven gift, a labour of love, and completely separate from constituency funds.”

She stressed that this transparency was important to correct misinformation and to reaffirm her commitment to accountability and ethical representation.

The Senator further stated that the development projects she recently initiated at the Federal Government College (FGC) Idoani including the auditorium and staff quarters were also financed outside the constituency budget.

While speaking on her decision to gift six of her legislative aides houses, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said, “Those houses were built by me personally. They are not constituency projects. They are my way of appreciating loyal aides who have walked this journey with me.

She urged public officers holders to always distinguish their private philanthropy from official responsibilities.

Senator Natasha noted that leadership to her, is not merely the allocation of public funds but the capacity to inspire collaborations, attract goodwill and mobilize resources for the common good

The commissioning ceremony attracted community leaders, health professionals, women groups, traditional rulers, and supporters who described the project as one of the most transformative health interventions in the district’s recent history.
