A Yoruba freedom fighter, Mr Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Igboho has appealed to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi to prevailed on President Bola Tinubu to remove him from the list of federal government wanted persons’ list.

Igboho, who made the plea during a visit to the Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife at the weekend, also pleaded for the revered monarch’s forgiveness for previously disrespecting him.

He told the monarch that embargo was also placed on his account by the federal government of Nigeria and pleaded for his intervention to allow him access to his bank account.

His words, “I want you to forgive and forget whatever wrong I’ve done to you. You are my father and you can’t push me away. I know you’ve forgiven me judging by the reception I received when I got here.

“I’m here to further seek your help as you’ve been doing before. I am a wanted person, and I want you to help me clear my name from the wanted persons list.

“My account is frozen and I want you to assist me with that also. I want the embargo placed on my account to be lifted and I know you are the one who can do it for me”.

He charged the monarch to deploy vigilance groups, including various Yoruba security groups into the forest in the region to tackle the flow of insecurity from the northern parts of the country to the areas.

“I want you to keep working on the security issue in Yorubaland. The Insecurity in the North and other parts of the country is creeping into Yoruba land.

“I want you to send us inside the bush and send all those kidnappers away. We have the capacity to protect our people. We are not slaves to the Fulanis”.

Responding, the Ooni assured Igboho of his assistance towards ensuring that he is removed from the list of wanted persons, stressing the need for Igboho to be tactical in his approach to issues concerning Yorubaland.

While pledging that he has forgiven Igboho for insulting the throne in the past, he sought cooperation towards achieving peace and development in the region.

“We are going to ensure that your name is removed from the wanted list”.

“I am not angry at you because I’m the father of all. You are a brave man and our pride in Yorubaland and you will not die young.

“Let us do away with fighting, it will not bring any good development to Yorubaland. That is why I remain quite most of the time. I am a father, and I know that we can only achieve what we want through cooperation, and I know God will give us victory”, Ooni said.
