SOKOTO: Former Governor of Sokoto State and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on Wednesday made a triumphant entry into Sokoto metropolis to a thunderous reception from thousands of enthusiastic supporters who thronged the streets from across Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states.

The Senator’s arrival turned the city into a political carnival, as jubilant crowds waved banners, chanted solidarity songs, and declared support for his political vision. The event underscored his enduring influence in the Nigerian political space and his continued determination to challenge what he described as anti-people policies of the current administration.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Tambuwal commended the rank-and-file officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on how they handled him professionally and what he termed their “human face” in discharging their duties. He, however, urged them to uphold due diligence and avoid selective justice, especially when dealing with politically exposed persons.

“I support the fight against crime and corruption, but it must be fair, just, and devoid of political targeting,” he declared, drawing loud applause from the crowd.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives reiterated his commitment to Nigeria’s democratic process, stressing that his political involvement is aimed squarely at changing the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I am not surprised by recent developments. Nothing will deter me from my present position. The reasons that made me leave the APC in 2018 are still present today, and I am not ready to be part of that system again,” he asserted.

Tambuwal criticized the policies of the Tinubu administration, describing them as economically unfriendly and detrimental to the well being of Nigerians. He lamented that citizens are being suffocated by harsh economic realities, while the government appears disconnected from their plight.

“We initiated the process of forming a political party with the people’s interest at heart. It is not about our personal ambition or ego, but about providing an alternative path that works for Nigerians,” Tambuwal said.

According to him, a 50 man committee will soon be inaugurated by a coalition of like minded political actors to draft a comprehensive blueprint that will be presented to Nigerians as a practical alternative to the current governance style.

He assured his supporters that the coalition’s mission is to rescue Nigeria from policies that deepen poverty and widen inequality, replacing them with strategies that promote inclusive economic growth, social justice, and national unity.

“Our blueprint will be practical, people centered, and capable of restoring hope to Nigerians. This is not mere rhetoric; it is a commitment to a better Nigeria,” Tambuwal emphasized.

The Senator’s triumphant entry into Sokoto, coming at a politically charged moment, has reignited debate over the direction of Nigeria’s political landscape and the readiness of opposition forces to present a formidable challenge in the next electoral cycle.

As the rally ended, chants of “Sai Tambuwal! Sai Talakawa!” filled the air, signaling the rekindling of a political movement determined to confront the status quo and offer a genuine alternative to Nigerians.
