Makinde declares Aug 20 work-free day to mark Isese day, urges traditional worshippers to pray for state

Published on

Gov Seyi Makinde of Oyo has enjoined all traditional worshippers and citizens to pray for the peace, unity and stability of the state in particular and the country in general.

He gave the charge, in a circular issued by the Secretary to Oyo State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, to declare August 20, as work-free day to mark 2024 Isese Day.

Recall that Governor Makinde had stated last year that every August 20 would be observed as a work-free day in the state in commemoration of Isese Day.

The circular reads in part:

“I call on all traditional worshippers and citizens to come together in prayer for the peace, unity and stability of our state in particular, and the country as a whole.”

*In these challenging times, we must unite as a people and seek divine guidance to overcome our differences and work towards a more prosperous and harmonious future for all,” the governor said.
