A newly formed women support group, Alliance of All Progressives Congress Groups has nominated a member of the House of Representatives and the wife to the Secretary to the government of the federation, senator George Akume, Hon. Mrs Regina Akume as its Grand Matron.
The group also appointed a journalist and publisher, Malam Abdul-Hameed Oladipupo Alli as the Director of Media Services and Justice Advocate.
The Director General of the Alliance, Dr Philomena Abieyuwa Eriyo made this known when the group paid a courtesy visit on Mrs Akume in Abuja,
Eriyo who also serves as a Special Assistant to the National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had earlier proposed for the investiture to hold in the office of the newly appointed Matron..

Mrs Akume, who represents Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency of Benue State, however, advised the group that the honour should be carried out at home in the presence of her husband.
“I want to be honoured in the presence of my husband, so let it take place at his residence,”‘ she requested.
The group acknowledged the request and considered as a sign of a woman who is rooted in the African culture and immediately approved the proposal.
Part of the function of the group is to advocate for women’s issues and to project the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu among women in Nigeria.
The group also described the choice of Alli as the Media Head, following his track record in writing for women and Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu, hoping he would project the image of the group to actualise its desired goals.
It praised Alli, a prominent media personality, grassroots politician, and a former Transition Implementation Committee, TIC Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, his unwavering commitment for projecting activities of the Alliance, the Renewed Hope Agenda, gender equity, and justice.”
