A high-profile land dispute involving Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac, CEO of Homadil Realty Limited, her husband Isaac Ishaku Yusuf and Colleen Yesufu, a 79-year-old woman has taken center stage in Abuja’s real estate sector with the former saying the EFCC’s approach on the matter is procedurally unbalanced.

The dispute revolves around Plot 4022A09 Guzape and Plots 1861 and 1862 B07 Katampe Main, with the Yesufu family, led by 79-year-old Hajia Colleen Mero Yesufu, claiming ownership.

According to Godwin-Isaac,  the Guzape plot was allocated to Amina Usman Musa, who transferred her interest to Arch. Richard John Idakwagi of Rychado Homes, who in turn sold the land to Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac. All transfers were supported by verifiable documents, including Power of Attorney and AGIS land documents.

Godwin-Isaac who had earlier petitioned President Tinubu on the matter stated that the Yesufu family who had launched a public campaign against Rebecca and Homadil Realty, petitioning government offices, did not purchase the land from any person dead or alive.

Reacting to the publication by Vanguard on Yesufu’s allegation, Godwin-Isaac said: “All we have ever asked for is a fair process, driven by facts—not fear, not favoritism, and certainly not falsehoods,” Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac emphasized.

She described the EFCC’s approach over the matter as procedurally unbalanced. “the EFCC’s approach appeared “rushed, aggressive, and procedurally unbalanced.”
She also criticized the agency’s media strategy, which “created a biased narrative in the public domain” through “strategic media briefings and selective leaks that framed the matter in a one-sided and premature light,” adding that the EFCC also arrested Homadil Realty staff, freezing its bank accounts, and seizing international passports of the CEO.

“Instead of concluding its investigation before taking enforcement actions—as expected under due process—the EFCC initiated a chain of punitive steps that effectively disrupted operations at Homadil Realty.”

Godwin-Isaac said the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) took a more measured approach, examining documents and conducting a quiet inquiry. “The ICPC found no immediate evidence of fraud and advised parties to maintain respect for the sub judice principle.”

“This matter is a civil dispute masquerading as a criminal case, fueled by a coordinated public campaign by the Yesufu family.

She emphasized the importance of respecting the legal process, stating that “any overlapping action could undermine judicial integrity” and that “parties should maintain respect for the sub judice principle and refrain from actions that could prejudice ongoing legal proceedings.”
