Emirship tussle: No going back on installation of Bichi District Head — Sanusi

Published on

KANO — The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has on Wednesday, said no going back on the installation of newly appointed District Head of Bichi, Munir Sanusi and accompanying him to assume his seat and occupy the dissolved Emir palace.

The Monarch made this known when he received a delegation from Bichi who paid him solidarity visit at the palace.

Recall that heavy security operatives which comprises of the police and DSS allegedly drafted from the federal government had last Friday barricaded the Kofar Kudu Emir’s palace to prevent the 16th Emir from accompanying the new Wambam Kano and District Head of Bichi to assume his seat in Bichi and an action which led to restriction of movement in and out of the palace.

Sanusi who described the move as a distraction, said a new date will be fixed for the installation.

According to him, “This thing that happened is only a distraction. We still don’t know why it happened and those involved have not said the reason why they did it. However, this will not stop anything.

“I assure you that another day will be fixed and your District Head will surely be brought to you and everything will take place peacefully.

“Go and inform the public to continue to remain peaceful and prayerful. Whatever the situation, peace and prayer will surely take us to the end of the tunnel.

“More so, with the way the people of Bichi revered the Khalifa and Wambam Abubakar, there is no way a son of the Khalifa will be taken to them as the Wambai and they will turn their backs on him,” the 16th Emir, Sanusi stated.

Leading the delegation, the chairman of Bichi local government, Hamza Sule, said that the visit was to clear the air about the rumour that Bichi turned their back on the Emirate.

“We are here to show our solidarity and allegiance to His Royal Highness the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II. There was a rumour going round that there is something wrong on Bichi which we are not aware of, that is why we are here to tell him.

“We are with him hundred percent and we are waiting for the Wambai he appointed for us to come. There is no any violence or opposition to this whatsoever.

“We were at Bichi waiting for the Emir to bring the Wambai when we heard the rumour that something is wrong in Bichi which we are not aware of.

“As far as we are concerned here in Bichi we are not aware of anything, we are only celebrating and waiting for His Highness to come.

“We in Bichi are hundred percent satisfied with the appoint of Munir Sanusi as the District Head of Bichi” the Chairman, Sule however stated.

Recall that Bichi Emirate was one of the additional four Emirate created by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje after splitting the old Kano Emirate but was later dissolved by the Governor Abba Yusuf led New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP government.
