35-year-old man allegedly commits suicide in Ogun

The Ogun State Police command has confirmed the death of 35-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel Urhobocha in Sango-Ota, Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area of the State.

The deceased, according to the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun Police Command, Omolola Odutola, was found face down with a container of insecticide next to his body.

Odutola said the incident happened at about 9:00 a.m. on Friday.

Odutola disclosed that the roommate of the deceased, Obabiyi David, had reported earlier at the Sango-Ota Police Division that his flat mate was acting odd and had even attacked him with a knife, which he managed to escape.

She said, based on this information, a team from the division was sent to question Urhobocha regarding the alleged attack, but upon arrival, they found the room locked from the inside.

The spokesperson said the officers, who eventually forced the door open, discovered the suspect lying dead.

Odutola said, “He was discovered dead in the apartment, with a container of insecticide found next to his body.

“He was promptly ferried to a local hospital for medical attention, but the attending doctor confirmed him dead. His body has been placed in the morgue for an autopsy.”

She maintained that an investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.
