The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Friday declared that there will be no political parties in Akwa Ibom State come 2027.

Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District in the Senate, made this statement while addressing his constituents during his midterm empowerment briefing held at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.

He boasted that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) umbrella is in shreds and can no longer provide protection.

His words: “Let us salute the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno. Umo Eno is a man of peace. Umo Eno is a man of God. I’m not talking about those who profess God with their lips—I’m talking about a man who practices God in his heart. Umo Eno has brought all of us together.”

He further stated, “As I speak with you, there will be nothing like political parties in 2027 in Akwa Ibom State. For the Senate of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, all political parties have collapsed, and the people will vote for Senator Godswill Akpabio.”

“Similarly, for the office of governor in 2027, all political parties have collapsed, and the people will vote for Umo Eno. Akwa Ibom people have moved to vote for President Bola Tinubu, Umo Eno for governor, and me, Senator Akpabio, for the Senate.”

He reiterated, “The PDP umbrella is in shreds and can no longer protect.”

Akpabio described Governor Umo Eno as a man of peace, emphasizing, “We must salute Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State. Umo Eno is a man of peace. Umo Eno is a man of God. I’m not talking about those who profess God with their lips—I’m talking about those who practice God in their hearts. Umo Eno has brought all of us together.”

He also disclosed that a total of 1,690 beneficiaries were empowered with items including 30 mini buses, 67 passenger tricycles (Danfo tricycles), cassava processing machines, generating sets, and gas cookers.

Additional items provided include 347 deep freezers, 247 generators, trucks of 50 kg bags of rice, and N500,000 cash grants each to 2,000 beneficiaries.
