AsThe world marks International Youth Day today, the Nigerian Youth Council in Europe (NYCN-Europe Region) has sounded a clarion call to the Nigerian government to prioritize the welfare of its citizens, particularly the youth.
According to Amb Collins Idahosa, Governor of NYCN-Europe Region, over 60% of Nigerian youths are suffering and it is imperative that the government takes concrete steps to ease their burden.
“We cannot help but think of the struggles and challenges faced by our people back home. Our government must prioritize the welfare of its citizens, particularly the youth, and create opportunities for them to thrive,” Idahosa said in a statement to commemorate the day.
Idahosa, who is also the first Governor is leading the council 61st anniversary and Congress in Madrid, Spain come August 23, urged all youths in the diaspora to attend the event. He described it as a “watershed moment” in the history of NYCN-Europe, where members will gather to chart a new course for the organization and the community.
“This event promises to be a momentous occasion for us to come together, share our experiences, and learn from each other. Let us use this platform to discuss the challenges we face and find solutions to the problems that affect us,” he added.
The NYCN-Europe Region leader commended the efforts of Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, President of NYCN, for promoting the interests of Nigerian youths and advancing the development of the country.
“Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come,” Idahosa concluded.
