The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, has expressed optimism that the 2025 budget will revolutionize Nigeria if fully implemented.
Speaking during the debate on the Second Reading of the 2025 Budget Estimate, Jibrin commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his political will to bring prosperity to the country.
The proposed budget, tagged “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity,” allocates N4.91 trillion to defense and security, the highest allocation, to tackle insecurity. Jibrin emphasized that peace is essential for a sound economy and society.
To stimulate economic growth, the government plans to provide necessary infrastructure, including good roads, water, and power supply.

This, according to Jibrin, will enable the real sector and other sectors of the economy to operate effectively, creating jobs and generating revenue.
The budget also prioritizes human capital development, with an allocation of N3.52 trillion, and the health sector, to ensure that human resources are well taken care of.
Jibrin urged the National Assembly to oversight the budget properly and ensure its full implementation.
He believes that if implemented effectively, the budget will transform Nigeria into a land of prosperity.
The proposed 2025 budget is N47.90 trillion, with key allocations including:
Defence and Security: N4.91 trillion
Infrastructure: N4.06 trillion
Health: N2.48 trillion
Education: N3.52 trillion
The National Assembly has adjourned for the Christmas and New Year recess until January 14, 2025
