The Police Command in Oyo State says it arrested 153 suspected armed robbers and recovered 12 vehicles between July and December.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ayodele Sonubi, disclosed this at a news briefing in Ibadan on Friday.
Sonubi said that 12 motorcycles/tricycles were recovered while 48 firearms and 1,396 rounds of various calibre of ammunition were retrieved from the suspected criminals.
“In furtherance of these, the command has continued to make laudable strides in upholding its statutory responsibilities as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Officers and men of the command have stamped their feet on the ground to assert professionalism, strength and courage in the fight against crime in Oyo State,” he said.
The police commissioner said that he had ordered all area commanders, divisional police officers, heads of departments/formations and tactical commanders to deploy adequate personnel and resources across the state.
He solicited for the continued support of the people of the state in 2025, assuring the law-abiding citizens of the command’s combat readiness to protect them during and after the yuletide.
Sonubi reminded the residents that the ban on procurement and sales of fireworks remained in force, warning that defaulters would be sanctioned.
“They are also enjoined to give credible information to the police for effective crime management,” he said.
The command also paraded some suspects for offences ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery to hijacking of goods. NAN
